FRIENDS

WELL ...friends they say are the reasons we smile. friends have a way of shaping your life whether positive or negative, some friends even stick better than family.

my first year in the university of lagos, i met some friends who were fun to be with but all they care about was fashion, boys and the happening things. i tried to fit in but i was always me. they love to see me dance because am very good at it. we hardly talk about books or church. when ever we are been given one assignment or the other they always collect mine ....Well i believe what are friends for.

many times when they talk about sex, i really dont have much to say because have never experienced it. sometimes i get mad at them when they talk about me not having sex in public. all the same we just laugh it out. Alot of my class mates called me several times to warn me about those girl that why do i keep walking with them, i just dont fit in, but i couldnt just diss them like that.

second semester of my year one, i was sick, i had reactions on my skin so i had to go home. while i was away the course registration was on, my friends did theirs but i couldnt do mine and they never bothered about doing it for me. before i got back it was closed. i felt bad i asked them why they couldnt help me, well one of them (the one i was very close to ) said she flashed me when she was doing hers but i didnt call back.

i started running from one office to the other, writing one letter or the other and none of my so called friends offered to go with me. it was like the hardest time of my life. to my biggest surprise some group of girls i hardly talk came to me and consoled me. they apparently followed me to do everything i need to do, they even prayed with me, but i still wasnt able to do it, i felt loved and i really love them for helping out.

they call me constantly to know how am doing but my so call friends never did. when exams started, i had no reason to run home or be ashamed, sometimes those girls will come drag me to see them off to the gate when going for their exams when they return they come to my room we talk about the questions. and they usually drop theirs for me so i can use them when its time for me to write mine.

i was taught to choose my friends, that situation made me strong and helped to me able to face any challenge and today by God's grace am a better person. i have new friends that love me for me and we are always there for each other.
